Just after Easter in 2014, Catherine Tucker, of Lexington, was diagnosed with leukemia. Her baby brother, Conor, was just three weeks old when Catherine had her first chemotherapy treatment.
“It has been tough,” said Catherine’s mom, Sara Tucker. “You do what you have to do to cure your child. God has gotten us through this, along with the excellent team at the Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children’s Hospital.”
Catherine’s treatment lasted two years, three months and three weeks. Her family celebrated the end of treatment at a joyous gathering with the physicians, nurses, child life team and staff.
“Catherine is the happiest kid and Dustin (Catherine’s dad) and I are so thankful for the care she received,” said Tucker.
