Treating a wide range of hormonal disorders

Our board-certified pediatric endocrinologists at Prisma Health Children's Hospital–Midlands evaluate and treat children and young adults with a wide range of hormonal disorders in Columbia, Lexington and across the Midlands region of South Carolina.

With specializations including diabetic care, our doctors and nurse practitioners work in conjunction with our American Diabetes Association-certified experts at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. We are also involved in clinical research involving a variety of hormonal disturbances.

Conditions treated

  • Adrenal gland disorders
  • Calcium disturbances (hypocalcemia, hypercalcemia, osteoporosis)
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Insulin-dependent (type I diabetes)
  • Non-insulin dependent (type II diabetes)
  • Disorders of timing of puberty (delayed or precocious)
  • Growth disorders
  • Thyroid conditions (congenital or acquired; over active/under active)
  • Other glucose regulatory problems (hypoglycemia, impaired glucose tolerance, hyperinsulinism)

Diabetes support group

The Power of One is an informal support group for people affected by Type 1 diabetes, sponsored by the the Palmetto Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month,  6–7:30 p.m. at 9 Richland Medical Park Dr. in Columbia.
