Safe Kids Midlands
Focusing on preventing injuries
Safe Kids Midlands is a coalition of Safe Kids Worldwide. If you want to connect with the people in our community who make safety a priority – whether it’s childhood safety information or local injury prevention events – we’re here for you.
Preventable injuries are the No. 1 killer of children in the United States. Safe Kids Midlands is led by Prisma Health Children's Hospital–Midlands, which provides dedicated and caring staff, operation support and other resources dedicated to protecting kids from unintentional injuries.
Based on the needs of the community, this coalition implements evidence-based programs, such as bike rodeos, car-seat checkups, safety workshops and sports clinics that help parents and caregivers prevent childhood injuries.
When we talk about preventing injuries, we’re not talking about skinned knees, bruised shins and scraped elbows. Those are the telltale signs of a curious child, exploring the world, pushing limits and seeking adventure. We focus on the serious injuries and simple steps we can take to prevent them.
